Victoria's into day three of a lockdown that could go past the planned five days.
Questions are now also being raised regarding Victoria’s infection control procedures, with a leading virus expert claiming the state’s protocol had failed.
Paul Dimattina is a prominent Melbourne restaurateur, and strong critic of Premier Dan Andrew's Covid-19 shutdowns which continue to smash Melbourne's hospitality industry.
The Federal Government is seeking to support Covid-19 recovery and job creation with its new Industrial Relations Legislation?
All this while our international borders remain closed and Premiers from Victoria, Western Australia, Queensland etc are indiscriminately shutting down their economies one after another. Whether these shutdowns are for 5 days or 5 weeks, they deal a massive blow to private sector incomes and productivity.
So, you have to ask, how serious are our rulers about supporting Australian economic growth, supporting our small business and private sector employees – or are they only helping Big business and Government to get bigger?
Current Industrial Relations reforms may offer better protection for business against unfair claims and clarification of some classes of employees, such as casuals but will the impact of this “reform” be less than we’re led to believe? Can we expect it to supercharge economic growth and productivity growth, smashed by Covid19?
Senator Malcolm Roberts believes so much more needs to be done.
